Tobias Meyer wins S**, 1,45m qualification

12 obstacles with 15 jumps of 1.45 m and a course length of 500 meters to be completed in 86 seconds - these were the ingredients for the S** EYCup that had been cooked up by course designer Rob Jansen / NED and his assistant Franz Madl jun. / AUT. 13 of the participating riders went on to the jump-off, all of them with a clear first round, with Michael Eichler being the only one to bring with him a one point time penalty.
Today was definitely the day of Tobias Meyer. Having won the Nation's Cup with the German Young Rider Team, he then went on to win the EYCup as well!
Meyer rode for full risk right from the start and his tactics paid off. He jumped a clear round with his 7-year old Capitol III son Carljohann, and managed to be the only rider who completed the jump-off course in under 40 seconds
(39.47 secs). The young Bavarian's future in the sport seems a sure thing, since he not only has today's winning horse to count on as a mount, but also will be riding two of Kathy Offel's world class horses from next week onward.
The chief rider of the Puschak show yard will thus have three great horses under his saddle in the near future.
Under a roar of applause, young Austrian rider Marielle Margreiter jumped to 2nd place with her scopey mare Ranja 33. The lower Austria based amazone, who has been training with Martin Schäufler for quite some time now, drew on the combined resources of her ambition, skills and talent. In an interview with the German Reitpsport TV, she later said happily: "I never dreamt that it would work quite as well today, since we did not have such a great run these past few days. For me, it was a 100% improvement, which is based on the type of trust in your horse that you so urgently need for this sport. All I can say is that I am really, really happy today, my mare jumped as well as can be!"
3rd place went to Germany again, the number one showjumping nation: this time, it was Patrick Afflerbach and Cool Girl who took home the ribbon.
